PATRON

Khurshed Dehnugara emigrated from India to the UK with his family when he was four years old, arriving in the early 1970s. Much of the UK culture at the time was hostile towards immigrants, particularly those that weren’t white. That has left a mark on Khurshed along with the kindness of many others who risked or extended themselves to offer help, comfort or hospitality.

The local, community-organised premise of Friendly Welcome was immediately attractive to Khurshed when he heard about it and his company Relume Ltd. has played a role in our funding to date.

Annika was born in Sweden and raised in the US and Kuwait. She has a deep multi-cultural understanding and creates truly personalised homes and spaces for people to enjoy being in.

When Annika learned about Friendly Welcome, she immediately volunteered her time and the resources and expertise of Vallgren & Co Design Studio to design and project manage the transformation of our accommodation from an empty flat to a welcoming and comfortable fully furnished home.

AppleCore have been donating MacBooks since the business began in 2013.

This started with donations to local support groups for underprivileged and vulnerable families who had children who were without access to the internet.

When the pandemic hit, MacBooks were donated to numerous families who couldn't access home schooling, followed by more donated to families being rehoused in the UK during the Ukrainian conflict.

The donations AppleCore has made to Friendly Welcome, are another demonstration of AppleCore’s commitment to empowering the vulnerable through donations to community groups who are best placed to find homes where a MacBook can make a difference.
